Alvorada brings together top musicians from London and Brazil, whose diverse backgrounds - including jazz, classical and Brazilian music - lend the group a unique edge. Individually, they have performed with the likes of Bobby McFerrin, Gilberto Gil, Stomp, Adriano Adewale and more.

Expect to hear playful, lively, expressive melodies combined with infectious rhythms and virtuosic instrumental interaction, making you want to get up and dance!

Alvorada are the UK’s premier exponents of Choro, a rich and uplifting style of instrumental music from Brazil. Choro emerged in the late 19th century as a mixture of European harmony with African rhythm, and can be considered the jazz of Brazil. Alvorada explore influences from all over Brazil, playing choros with the irrisistable swing of samba from the South and baião from the Northeast. As well as playing classics from the Choro genre, Alvorada play original works, revisiting the genre with influences from the UK.
