Queen Victoria found it unimaginable that two women could engage in erotic activity, and probably thought it even less likely that anyone would want to write about it. However, write about it they did and it is the love affair of Vita Sackville-West (1892-1962) and Virginia Woolf, (1882-1941) reported in their own words from their many letters which form the basis of this play.

Thus, in watching this play, we will discover how Sackville-West introduces sapphism into Woolf’s life and their love and longing for each other. An intelligent and fascinating drama.
