Anthony John Clarke, Dave Pegg

They are delighted to welcome back to Highworth two of the great figures of contemporary folk music, Anthony John Clarke and Dave Pegg.

Anthony John hails from Northern Ireland and many of his songs reflect the rich cultural heritage of the island of Ireland with a special focus on the troubles.

Many of Anthony John's songs have deeply poignant lyrics that often move the audience to tears but, as a contrast, his commentary on the songs and his interplay with the audience invariably convulses the audience with laughter. This combination of plucking at your heartstrings and uplifting you with laughter will ensure a fine evening of entertainment.

Anthony John will be aided and abetted by Dave Pegg, the legendary bass player with Fairport Convention. Dave has been a mainstay of Fairport for many years and has accompanied and supported many of the best known folk singers of recent years. Dave and Anthony John have been friends for many years and the special chemistry of their relationship will add richness to the evening.
