Three separate programs of spectacular ballet in one evening, including tango rhythms, colourful characters, and best-loved moments, all performed to live music from members of the Royal Ballet Sinfonia.
Quatrain, Kit Holder's third ballet for the Company, is a dynamic short work inspired by the complex and vibrant tango rhythms of Astor Piazzolla's The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. Sir Frederick Ashton's Façade embraces the fun of Edith Sitwell's deliciously nonsensical poetry, featuring a series of colorful characters dancing foxtrots and waltzes, all with their tongues firmly in their cheeks. The evening also features excerpts from the Company's best-loved ballets, including Swan Lake, Beauty and the Beast and La Fille mal gardée.
Ballet at its best, these programs offer a look at Birmingham Royal Ballet's depth and range of magical dance.
