"Calamity" Jane, the hard riding, hard shooting, hard drinking frontier-woman and her counterpart "Wild" Bill Hickock step in to save the neck of friend and saloon owner Henry "Millie" Miller who mistakenly books vaudeville song and dance man Francis Fryer thinking he was a showgirl. Calam journeys to the Windy City of Chicago to bring back Adelaide Adams, the singer and pin up of every man in Deadwood. In Chicago Adelaide is finishing her revue before heading off on a European tour leaving behind her maid Katie Brown who dreams of getting up on stage.

After a mix up in the dressing room, Katie joins Calam on her trip back to Deadwood where she soon wins the heart of every man in town including the dashing lieutenant of the local fort Danny Gilmartin with whom Calamity has long been in love with. With great reluctance Calamity puts aside her jealousy when Danny returns Katie's feelings and realises her true love has always been Wild Bill.
