Two applauded young novelists (Andrew – Costa First novel winner and Fiona – Man Booker shortlist) examine the darker side of rural life that’s about as far away from Country Living as possible. The bleak northern landscapes of Lancashire and Cumbria are the implacable backdrops to farming family stories of loss, destructive superstition and ultimately resilience and endurance.
