Lois Smith is a local artist and resident.

In 1948, she produced a film by then unknown director Lindsay Anderson, who went on to win Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1969 with If.

He became a lifelong friend of Lois’ and died whilst on holiday with her in 1994.

A short film of Lois telling her story will be shown, followed by a Q&A session with Lois, who will introduce a screening of one of her favourite Lindsay Anderson films, The Whales of August starring Bette Davis with Lillian Gish in her last screen performance.
