Codebreakers; The Story Of Enigma - Talk
Please note: Info provided by the Event Organiser
A talk by Dr Mark Baldwin
In this special talk, Dr Mark Baldwin reveals one of World War II's most fascinating stories - the German Enigma machine and the Allied Code breakers who stole its secrets!
In WWII, the Germans had entrusted their secret communications to an ingenious ciphering machine, the Enigma, which was portable, easily operated, and could be set up in millions of different ways. The Allies knew that the key to winning the war was being able to steal one of these machines and crack its impenetrable wall of secrecy.
With the aid of a unique personal collection of slides, Dr Baldwin will reveal the intricate workings of the Enigma and the tireless efforts undertaken by the specialist team of Allied codebreakers, including Alan Turing, assembled at Bletchley Park to reveal its secrets.
