Mike Cheeseman

Mike left his home in Godalming, Surrey, to go to America in 1979. His guitar style as well as his easy relaxed delivery has endeared him to audiences wherever he performs – a skill honed throughout England’s pubs and folk clubs, starting in the 1960’s.

Upon coming to America, Mike performed in Chicago before moving to Peoria, Illinois, marrying and raising a family. On this, his first trip back to perform in the UK, he will be presenting an 'evening of two halves'.

Mike has a passion for history and storytelling and the first half will feature songs from his show 'The Soul of a Soldier' which he has been performing throughout the Midwest of the USA and more recently, Southwest Florida. The show commemorates the 100th anniversary of World War I and how it inevitably led to World War II.

The second half of the evening will be an opportunity to reminisce a little with some of the songs he regularly performed in the area plus the chance to share a few stories from that era - a more light-hearted ending to the evening!

A chance to welcome Mike back to the area and listen to the music he is now performing around the States and to enjoy some of the old songs from the early days on the Folk Scene.
