Singer and banjo-player Elizabeth LaPrelle comes from Cedar Springs, Virginia. She began winning prizes for her singing at a young age and has dedicated research, passion and a powerful voice to the ancient art of Appalachian ballad-singing.
Anna Roberts-Gevalt is a Baltimore-based traditional fiddler & banjo player, composer, folklorist, storyteller, shadow puppeteer, filmmaker and illustrator. Of the mountain music she loves she says "this old music is inconceivably rich ... I try to do my best to learn it honestly, and share it with grace.
Anna Roberts-Gevalt and Elizabeth LaPrelle met in 2010 and soon began planning adventures together.
"There's something truly inspiring about this collaboration between 25 year olds from southwest Virginia... and a very special treat for lovers of pure traditional singing and playing, afficionados of the great ballad, and anyone that gets excited witnessing culture carried forward with mastery, love and a profound and real understanding of what makes old material great."
