Conducted by Barry Wordsworth and with a performance from soloist Alexandra Dariescu (piano) the RPO's performance will begin with Schubert's ethereal Symphony No. 8. This will be followed by Alexandra Dariescu performing Beethoven's wonderful Piano Concerto No. 4 with its great range of emotional expression. After the interval we will hear a performance of what is regarded by many to be the most popular and beloved piece of English music, Elgar's Enigma Variations.
