Twits and Tricks Day
Come and celebrate Roald Dahl’s mischief-filled story The Twits at the Museum on the May Day Bank Holiday. Meet the gloriously disgusterous Mr and Mrs Twit and the marvellous Mugglewump monkey family.
Listen to a twitch-tickling Twit Talk in the Writing Hut and find out about what inspired Roald Dahl’s tale of the hideous couple and the heroic monkeys. Hear about the author’s childhood pranks (including the famous Great Mouse Plot) and how his own mischievousness seeped into many of his characters.
We also have four fizzlecrumping Twits Tricks and Circus Skills sessions for 6+ year-olds, with entertainer extraordinaire Julie Carpenter. You can learn a few circus skills just like Mugglewump the Monkey and watch some mesmerising magic.
Pick up a Trickster Trail sheet and find out about crafty tricks from Roald Dahl’s life and stories, listen to some swashboggling storytelling and head to the Crafty Kitchen to make your own repulsant Mr Twit beard mask to wear.
