Glynde Place Concert Series
In 2014 the Glynde Place Concert Series was started to showcase the rising talent of musicians from the BBC New Generation Artists scheme. We were very privileged to have Sean Shibe and Kitty Whately playing in the Long Hall to a rapt audience over two evenings. Following the success of these concerts we are extending the series to three evenings; 23 May, 20 June and 18 July. In addition we are also opening the gates earlier, so those who would like to arrive before the doors open, and enjoy a picnic, are more than welcome. Please come, and enjoy an evening of wonderful music here at Glynde Place.
The second concert evening will be a piano recital by Louis Schizgebel.
Born in Geneva in 1987, Swiss-Chinese pianist Louis Schwizgebel has been described as "a pianist with a profound gift" (Guardian, August 2013) and "already one of the great masters of the piano" (Res Musica, 2014). At the age of 17 he won the Geneva International Music Competition and, two years later, the Young Concerts Artist International Auditions in New York. In 2012 he won the second prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition, and in 2013 he was announced as a BBC New Generation Artist. He has perfomed with many orchestras across the globe. In August 2014 he made a hugely successful BBC Proms debut playing Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 1, with Edward Gardner and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britian.
