The Tempest

The Tempest is Shakespeare’s swan-song, a bewitching, mysterious yet witty tale, which is by turns both beautiful and cruel.

Exiled Duke Prospero inflicts revenge on his evil usurpers by conjuring up a magical storm that shipwrecks them on his island.

This is a portrait of a wronged, tortured man who is in some ways no better than those he seeks to be revenged upon. But ultimately good triumphs over evil.

The wrong-doers are punished, happiness is secured for the next generation, and, in the end, peace is found through reconciliation.
