Owen Wingrave

The Wingrave family has a long and illustrious history of serving their country in battle, a tradition which each generation is expected to continue.

When the young heir to the family estate, Owen Wingrave, announces that he fundamentally disagrees with the idea of fighting and war and he won’t continue his military training, the family are outraged.

He is sent back to his ancestral home, where he faces accusations of cowardice and threats of disinheritance, and is forced to confront his whole family, both the living and the dead.
