Fridays At One: Trumpet Traditions

Inspired by RCS’s proud tradition of trumpet playing, when the opportunity arose to acquire the incredible resources of the Tarr Collection, we couldn’t resist. American Edward Tarr is a pioneer in the revival of Baroque trumpet performance practice, having produced over one hundred editions of music, and single-handedly bringing many composers into the repertoire.

We help the RCS Archives celebrate this acquisition and follow the formal handover presentation with performances of some of those works, including by Edward Tarr himself, along with his wife, concert organist Irmtraud Tarr, former RCS Principal John Wallace, and current students who can’t wait to get their hands on the music.
