After another excursionary triumph as a centrepiece of 2013’s Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Derry, during its reign as European City of Culture, and yet more rave reviews for the TV version’s recent sixth series, The Transatlantic Sessions returns once again to its live performance home, with another mouth-watering cast of Scottish, Irish and US roots music maestros settling into the customary onstage ‘green room’.

Shawn Colvin
Shawn Colvin's career began in Texas in the 1970s. She has gone on to win three Grammy Awards, including two for the hit single 'Sunny Came Home', and has been nominated for another seven. Over the course of her career, she has released 10 albums, maintained a non-stop touring schedule, appeared on countless television and radio programs, had her songs featured in major motion pictures and created a remarkable canon of work. Her songs are slow-release works of craft and catharsis that become treasured, lifetime companions for their listeners.

Sarah Jarosz
Sarah Jarosz emerged on the acoustic music scene as a mandolin wunderkind in her young teens. Jamming onstage with bluegrass icons David Grisman and Ricky Skaggs, she played with a sure touch and real joy that belied her years. She quickly picked up the guitar and banjo. While her instrumental talents are formidable, Sarah is an equally gifted vocalist and songwriter, talents which led then-16-year-old Jarosz to a record deal with legendary roots label Sugar Hill Records and a major in contemporary improvisation in voice at the prestigious New England Conservatory.

'When Molsky plays, you can practically hear the floorboards and rocking chair creak on the back porch' (Tony Hillier, Rhythms Magazine).
