Echoes and Traces

Echoes and Traces presents a world-premiere tour of eight new choral works written by eight Scottish composers, developed in response to a 900 year old plainsong fragment from Orkney that celebrates St Magnus, Nobilis Humilis.

Acclaimed Scottish choir Cappella Nova, directed by Alan Tavener, will premiere the eight new works at Historic Scotland venues around the country.

This project will be one of the most significant cultural events in Scotland in 2016, highlighting the breadth of Scottish composition talent.

The concert will be presented by John Purser, one of Scotland’s most acclaimed cultural ambassadors

The concerts are supported by Creative Scotland, Hope Scott Trust and Sound and Music, and are produced by Lorimer Productions.
