James Robertson is a poet, essayist, and writer of fiction. His novels are The Fanatic, Joseph Knight (which received the Saltire Society and Scottish Arts Council awards, for Scottish Book of the Year), The Testament of Gideon Mack (long-listed for the Man Booker Prize), And the Land Lay Still (Saltire Scottish Book of the Year), and The Professor of Truth. His short stories are collected in Republics of the Mind, and Jame’s most recent publication for adults is 365: Stories (which contains a story for each day of the year – all exactly 365 words long). He is also editor of, and a contributing author to, Itchy Coo – the Scots language imprint for young readers. James has translated, into Scots, children’s books such as Winnie-the-Pooh, The Gruffalo, and Room on the Broom. He resides in Angus.
