Sensational Spanish Guitar Prodigy
Young Spanish guitarist Mabel Millán is one of the best young guitarists in the world today. She has built up a glittering CV well beyond her 21 years by winning over 30 international competitions and awards, including the David Russell Award for Young Talent in 2008, International Competition Jacinto Guerrero (2012) and Certamen Llobet (2014) – the first woman ever to win this prestigious competition. Mabel makes her UK debut at NEGF.
Handpicked by Julian Bream to perform new commissions for the Julian Bream Trust, Andrey Lebedev gave the world premiere of Sir Harrison Birtwistle’s Beyond the White Hand: Construction with Guitar Player and Leo Brouwer’s Sonata No.5 Ars Combinatoria, working closely with Bream and the composers.
Lebedev is currently living in London where he is a post-graduate student at the Royal Academy of Music, supported by the ABRSM and Julian Bream Trust. He is the First Prize winner of multiple international competitions including the Australian National Fine Music Young Performers Award, where he was the first classical guitarist in the competition’s history ever to win.
