The Museum Of Scottish Lighthouses

Museum of Scottish Lighthouses are delighted to announce that they will re-open to the public on Wednesday 12th August 2020.

Their operations will be very different to their old ‘normal’ as the safety of all visitors and staff is their number 1 priority. Here are some of the main differences to your visit following reopening:

BOOKING
You will need to book a ticket and visiting slot in advance of your arrival at the Museum. Online ticketing will be available on our website close to the end of this week. When you book, it is essential that you book for everyone who will be visiting with you! It will now be extremely important that you arrive at the museum at a designated time.

LIGHTHOUSE VISIT
We are still able to offer tours of the lighthouse but on a much reduced scale. Half hour tours will be run for groups/bubbles. This means one bubble for one guide at any one time. The guide will take you to the lighthouse to visit selected rooms before accompanying you back to the museum. Bubbles will be capped at 10 people. Face coverings should be worn for indoor areas of the tour while your guide will be wearing a visor at all times.

MUSEUM VISIT
Our Museum is now a strictly one way system! We have marked out our museum at 2 metre intervals and provided hand sanitiser dispensers throughout the building. Bring your face coverings as there are also areas where this is recommended.

TEA ROOM
Our Tea Room will be open to Museum visitors on a reduced capacity. All our tables and chairs are socially distanced and we have a colour coded system in place to let you know which tables you can safely use between cleaning. We ask that you wear a face covering at all times in the cafe when you are not seated! Our staff will be wearing visors.

SHOP
The Museum shop will once again be open but in line with Government advice face coverings should be worn in this area! We also ask that you don’t touch unless you intend to buy!
