Opera Highlights

Each year Scottish Opera takes four singers and a pianist out and about around Scotland, travelling the highways and byways, to take a musical mix of operatic treasures to some of the country’s more remote venues. In October, the minibus arrives in Findhorn, packed full of props and costumes to bring you an entertaining evening of music and good company. And there’s something for everyone – from opera first timers to seasoned fans.

The programme includes favourites from Rossini’s Barber of Seville, Mozart’s Così fan tutte and Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Gondoliers alongside some lesser known gems rarely performed on the Scottish stage.

This Season’s casts are full of fresh, new talent, including Scottish Opera Emerging Artist Alexey Gusev, alongside graduates of the National Opera Studio, sopranos Lucy Hall (Orfeo ed Euridice 2015) and tenor William Morgan (The 8th Door 2017). Former Emerging Artist and director of the four star Opera Highlights in 2016 Jack Furness returns again to direct this year’s highlights.

‘Amazing energy from all five performers – to be able to get that close to professional musicians and singers is a rare treat. Can’t wait for more!’ Audience member, 2016
