Julie Fowlis

Julie Fowlis’ exquisite voice, her interpretation of Scottish Gaelic culture and ability to bring folk music out of the past and into something contemporary, dynamic and irresistible, are what have made her a genuine and multi-award winning crossover star.

Julie will forever be known for singing the theme song to Brave, Disney Pixar’ s multi-award winning animated film set in the ancient Highlands of Scotland. For the Festival Julie’ s exquisite voice and unique blend of Gaelic song and music will resonate amidst the neo-Gothic splendour of St Laurence Church.

Julie has previously worked with artists of the caliber of Mary Chapin Carpenter, James Taylor, Peter Gabriel, Sinead O’ Connor and her long list of plaudits includes nomination for BBC Radio 2 Folk Singer of the Year 2015 and ‘Best Artist’ at the Songlines World Music Awards and singing live to a TV audience of around 1 billion people at the Opening Ceremony of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014.
