Taking place over two weekends in some of the most picturesque surroundings you could imagine, Winter Words guarantees a special, unforgettable visit to Highland Perthshire.

The 2016 Winter Words programme contains a diverse and delicious line-up of great minds and great writers – it’s the perfect way to linger in the last days of Winter (and celebrate the first signs of Spring) amidst the spectacular wintry landscape of Highland Perthshire.

A number of themes weave their way through this year’s celebration of the written and the spoken word: the eagle-eyed will quickly discover strands concerned with wildlife and wild spaces, Scottish history and culture, the arts and media, and rural life running throughout the programme of events.

From Bake Off to Bannockburn, Gregor ‘Rab C. Nesbitt’ Fisher to The Fish Ladder and the Banff Film Festival to That Guy Fae The Corries Ronnie Browne (not to mention the Loch Ness Monster!), there’s a vast range of stimulating and entertaining activity to explore at this year’s ?Winter Words.

The unique Fearie Tales writing competition (with free Fearie Tales readings in the River Room) returns again this year, as do the ever-present Book Fair, a 3 day Creative Writing course and the very popular Poetry Please! sessions.
