Rock Fest Barcelona is one of Spain's biggest rock and metal festivals, held each year in the country's second biggest city. Every summer, the festival brings a lineup of the scene's biggest stars to Parc de Can Zam in the north of Barcelona.
ZZ Top and Def Leppard are among those topping the bill this time round, but the whole lineup will be populated with favourites from the hard rock world, whether they are international veterans or lesser-known gems from the Spanish scene.

ZZ Top have been together for over 40 years and never once has their line up changed. They are one of the only bands with a career span of this magnitude to be able to lay claim to this distinction, and boy does it show. Not only were they inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, they were ranked number 44 on the VH1 '100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock'. Since the '80s they have had a string of massive hits, spawning some of the best and most instantly recognisable singles within the Hard Rock genre – 'Gimme All Your Lovin', 'Sharp Dressed Man', 'La Grange' and 'Legs' to name but a few.

Progressive metal band Dream Theater formed in 1985 under the name Majesty by John Petrucci, John Myung, and Mike Portnoy. Though a number of lineup changes followed, the three original members remained together, along with James LaBrie and Jordan Rudess, until September 2010, when Mike Portnoy left the band. In October 2010, drummer extraordinaire Mike Mangini joined. To date the band have sold over 12 million records worldwide. They received their first-ever Grammy nomination for 'On The Backs Of Angels' for the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance in 2012 then a second nomination in the same category in 2013 for the single 'The Enemy Inside'. 2017 saw them mark the 25th anniversary of their highest selling album; 1992's 'Images And Words', which was certified gold.

After more than 35 years and 13 million albums sold worldwide, Saxon are still relentless and passionate as they were back in the days of 'Wheels of Steel' and 'Denim and Leather'. The influential heavy metal outfit has been an inspiration for the likes of Metallica and Megadeth and a front-runner for the New Wave of British Heavy Metal sweeping the nation in the late 70s-early 80s.

Gothenburg gave birth to this power metal giant in 1993, as former Ceremonial Oath members Oscar Dronjak and Jesper Stromblad decided to bring to life a much-anticipated project. HammerFall grew to prominence throughout the 1990s with releases such as Glory To The Brave and Reneade, surviving well into the 2000s with albums like Crimson Thunder. Replacing Stefan Elmgren with Pontus Norgren in 2008, the band released Masterpieces, a compilation of cover songs.
