Jazz Re:fest: Theon Cross, Zara McFarlane, Rosie Turton Quintet, Kevin Haynes Grupo Elegua, Sarah Tandy, Werkha, Camilla George Quartet
Now in its 7th year, the annual one-day festival returns, produced by Jazz Re:freshed to celebrate Jazz and Jazz-inspired music and culture.

This event takes place at Brighton Dome, which has achieved Bronze Status for disabled access from Attitude Is Everything.
Theon Cross is a London based Tuba player and composer and is one of the key components of the sound of the cities thriving young jazz scene. He has made a name for himself for providing his own unique brand of swaggering tuba bass in jazz and various other styles of music. Most significantly in the award winning four-piece Sons of Kemet. He has also worked with a range of other well known musicians including Moses Boyd, Jon Batiste & Stay Human, Pharoe Monch, Emile Sande and Kano.
In addition to his work in these projects he skilfully leads his own powerful and eclectic group exploring the diverse range of musical sounds of London through his compositions.

An infusion of jazz with a hint of caribbean flava, old classics are given a contemporary, refreshing edge alongside strong, emotive originals. Featuring Zara McFarlane - vocals, Peter Edwards - piano, Nick Walsh - double bass, Andy Chapman - drums and Camilla George - alto sax.

Rosie Turton is a trombonist and composer based in London. Known for her playing with septet Nerija, Where Pathways Meet and Huw Bennet Quintet to name a few, she now brings forward her band playing her most recent explorations into composition.
This quintet is a recent creation, lead by strong melodies blending the sound of trombone, violin and electronics over a bed of interlocking grooves and soundscapes from the rhythm section. It explores the connections of the sounds of jazz, hip hop and Indian Classical music, among some other influences.

Latin and African rhythms in a mix of jazz saxophone and Yoruba folk music.
Kevin Haynes Grupo Elegua tour dates
Expect to hear an infectious fusion of Afrobeat, bass, house, jazz, funk and soul, bound together and brought bang up to date through contemporary electronic production that never stands still.
Werkha tour dates
Sax player Camilla has played with Jazz Jamaica and Venus Jazz Warriors. Joined by Sarah Tandy on keyboard, Daniel Casimir on bass and Femi Koleoso on drums, they play music with a modern edge whilst paying homage to the jazz tradition, with a bit of calypso thrown into the mix.
