Johnny Clarke

A legend of the Jamaican reggae scene. Johnny Clarke is the prototype reggae 'dancehall' singer of his day, setting the foundation for future generations to come with versioning, re-cutting and/or transforming old themes into something new and current. He pioneered this thirty years back but the work is still as fresh today. He took Jamaica and the reggae scene worldwide by storm when it needed it the most; presenting a fresh, youthful and energetic style and a crisp voice, that lots of us would give our right arm for!

Since then, he has won over influential figures like Adrian Sherwood, Kid 606 and Aphex Twin with his bass heavy concoction of mutant dancehall, ragga and dub anthems which culminated in his first full length release 'Pressure'.
