Cardboard Fox

Cardboard Fox appearing at this event

Mix the award winning Carrivick Sisters with a leading member of the Coal Porters and the thrice EFDSS Young Musician of the Year and what do you get – Cardboard Fox, a band with a great pedigree and a sound to match. Cardboard Fox are hard to categorise but are something quite special. All four musicians have roots in bluegrass music but their collective influences reach much further and this shows in their music. Formed in late 2013, the band have known each other for much longer but have been waiting for the right opportunity to make it work. This is a group of musicians who are very, very excited about what this line up can create and that's what makes this acoustic quartet so special. With a focus on original writing and re-imagined folk songs taken from a very different perspective, this band is not to be missed. The line-up comprises Joe Tozer (mandolin), Charlotte Carrivick (guitar), Laura Carrivick (fiddle) and John Breese (double bass).

Ryan Young, despite his comparatively young years, is already on his way to becoming a folk giant. Ryan’s fiddle playing is brimming with fresh melodic ideas, an uplifting rhythmic drive and a great depth of dynamics and precision. His sound is very distinctive and he always manages to take the listener on an adventurous and emotional journey in any performance.

Harp And A Monkey

Harp And A Monkey appearing at this event

Songs about cuckolded molecatchers, a lone English oak tree that grows at Gallipoli, care in the community and medieval pilgrims...we can only be talking about the folk experimentalists Harp and a Monkey. Their electro-folk storytelling is imbued with a deep Lancashire sensibility that shines through in their beautifully crafted and sometimes spooky vignettes of northern life, love and remembrance.
