Chepstow’s summer music festival will kick off with a sausage and cider festival headlined by The Wurzels.

The Somerset band will return to the town on August 18th after they played the Castell Roc festival in 2014.

The family-friendly event will see what organisers say is the largest cider collection to come to Chepstow and there will be ten locally sourced sausages for people to taste.

The Wurzels’ career, which spawned the so called Scrumpy and Western genre, started in 1966.

The band scored a number one single with The Combine Harvester in June 1976 and a top three single with I’m a Cider Drinker in the same year.

Their last appearance at Chepstow Castle two years ago was played to a sold out audience.

The Wurzels will be supported by acoustic three piece, The Thatchers. Formed in 2012, members Henry Dyer, Jessica Dyer and Chris Baker combine folk, Southern rock and blues.
