A celebration of the critically acclaimed works of Michael Madhushan Dutt, the 19th century Bengali poet and dramatist, known as the ‘Father of the Bengali Sonnet’. The event will feature a book fair, discussion, performances and readings.

Day One is the celebration of Boishakhi Abahon, with a focus on Children’s Literature.

Come and enjoy an afternoon filled with loads of activities, storytelling and mask making, rhymes and riddles, songs and games and much more!

Hosted by Ponam Priyam- Senior Producer, Channel I, Bangladesh, the programme includes-

Book launch and introducing British-Bangladeshi writers, readings from their books and reviews
Children's play with live music by Moncho Shoili (BSK’s drama wing)

Sunday, 26 April 2015:

14:00 - 17:30 (Doors opening 13:30) / Upstairs

Day Two is celebrating the works of critically acclaimed 19th century Bengali Poet and Dramatist Michael Madhusudan Dutta (1824 – 1873), the pioneer of Modern Bengali Lierature.

Special guests and contributors are Stephen Watts, Cristina Viti, Bulbul Hasan and BSK Moulik (reading circle). The programme includes-

Poetry Recital and Discussion on the life and work of Poet Michael Madhusudan Dutta.
Ekai Ki Bole Shobbhota (Is this what is called civilisation!): a short play.
Musical Performance, dance and dramatised reading of the Meghnadh Bodh Kabbo.
Musical Finale of the festival led by acclaimed Tagore singer Dr Imtiaz Ahmed.

A Book Fair is running alongside the events for both days.

Language: English and Bengali.
