The Bletchley Girls
Bletchley Park, famous as Britain’s unprecendented code breaking organisation, helped the allies win the Second World War. That it was staffed predominantly by young women is less well known.
Tessa presents the award-winning BBC2 series Coast and has taken ‘the Bletchley Girls’ to Hay and Cheltenham Book festivals where she performed to sell-out audiences.
The book has been acclaimed in the Daily Mail, New Statesman and the Financial Times among others and has received much publicity in the wider media. Tessa is historian at Sheffield Hallam University and has presented numerous documentaries for BBC2, BBC Radio 4 and the Discovery Channel. The Bletchley Girls is her second book.
Now in their nineties, these exceptional women share their wartime stories and the impact Bletchley Park has had on their lives. Author, historian and broadcaster, Tessa Dunlop presents a revelatory show with two of the extraordinary women who were involved in Britain’s most secret wartime operation and who feature in her book The Bletchley Girls.
