Rope
This tense murder-thriller will have you on the edge of your seat from the moment the curtain rises.
The inspiration behind this play was the true story of Leopold and Loeb, two wealthy law students from Chicago, who set out to commit the perfect murder, which was unfortunate for their victim 14 year old Robert ‘Bobby’ Franks.
‘Nothing ever held you like Alfred Hitchcock’s ROPE’ was the original poster claim for the film Hitchcock directed and how true this claim proved to be!
The scene is set - five unsuspecting dinner guests sit down to eat unaware that a mere tablecloth separates their lavish banquet from a corpse. The hosts, Brandon and Granillo, have carefully selected each of their guests in an arrogant attempt to flaunt their murder to the victim’s friends and relatives.
The diners include the victim’s father and aunt, his two classmates and the prodigiously intelligent Rupert Cadell. As the night goes on, the conversation takes a dark turn and the guests start to grow suspicious, but will the two killers get away with the perfect murder?
