A group of extraordinary women, members of a Yorkshire W.I, persuade one another to pose for a charity calendar to purchase a comfortable sofa for the visitors lounge in the hospital where one of their husbands is being treated for leukaemia. Overcoming their initial reserve, the friends drop their dressing gowns, their modesty spared only by carefully placed cakes, knitting and flower arrangements.

Puzzling their husbands, mortifying their children and riding the wrath of the outraged W.I, they spark a global phenomenon. But, as the media interest snowballs, the women find themselves more exposed than they intended. Based on a true event, 'Calendar Girls' is hilariously funny, poignant and uplifting. A very English story with a very English heart.
