Mack and Mabel
Ashton Operatic Society are delighted to present this amateur production of Mack and Mabel.
A touching story set in the heady days Keystone Studios, director Mack Sennett and comedienne star Mabel Normand created magic together on-screen, but backstage their tempestuous relationship was threatened by the pressures of Hollywood and the advent of 'talkies'.
Mack and Mabel was originally nominated for eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, in 1974.
Full of memorable musical numbers including I Won't Send Roses and Movies Were Movies, Mack and Mabel is a poignant love story set in a bygone age.
