Noseda Conducts Mahler

A programme of

Verdi Arias
Mahler Symphony No 5

World-renowned soprano Diana Damrau is one of the finest of today’s vocal artists, lauded for her musical intelligence, her dynamic vocal abilities and her effortless lyricism. She is the winner of numerous international accolades, including the International Opera Awards’ 2014 female singer of the year.

She joins respected bass-baritone Nicolas Testé and the exceptional young players of the European Union Youth Orchestra, under conductor Gianandrea Noseda, for a personal selection of compelling arias and duets from Verdi’s passionate operas Luisa Miller and I Masnadieri.

The EUYO and Noseda close the concert with Mahler’s searingly intense Fifth Symphony: its exquisite, longing-filled Adagietto was made famous by the film Death in Venice, but its opening funeral march and its brilliant, celebratory finale are no less powerful.
