Carnatic Nomad
Brought up in Bangalore, southern India, but now based in London, Jyotsna Srikanth is an extraordinary and versatile violinist. She began by studying Indian classical music and went on to appear on numerous Bollywood film soundtracks before moving to the UK and working in jazz-fusion and in experiments mixing western and Indian classical styles.
Her performances feature free-flowing, melodic playing, gently drifting passages, flurries of rapid-fire improvisation and bursts of exhilarating interplay with her percussionists.
