Malian singer with a rich smoky voice, combined with funk grooves and rhythms, Rokia offers a new slant on African music. While still rooted in the Malian musical tradition, her mix of world sounds and blues has a unique sound and style, making her one of Africa's most inventive singer-songwriters. The daughter of a diplomat, Traoré spent her childhood travelling internationally, while as an adult she's moved back and forth between Europe and Mali.
