One of Debussy's most famous works, the 'Prelude', stretches keys and tonalities to their limits and has been described as 'ten minutes that changed the musical world'. Robin Michael returns as a welcome soloist in the virtuosic 2nd Cello Concerto by Saint-Saëns and also plays an arrangement by Sally Beamish of the Debussy suite.

Commissioned by the MCO for its 40th Anniversary in 2012, Richard Michael's Suite consists of five movements, each in the style of a legendary jazz pianist. The composer will treat the audience to a range of colours from Stride through to Latin, Swing, Ballad, and Be-bop; it may not be your usual MCO style, but at the last performance it was greeted with much critical acclaim.
