Finding Our Own Heroines
Are the heroines in well-known folktales and myths satisfying and strong enough for modern audiences? Or are they often too passive: a victim or a hero's prize? Should we alter the stories we tell to offer girls stronger role models, or should we search for authentic heroines in hidden and lost tales?
Storyteller and author Lari Don has written a collection of heroine tales, Girls, Goddesses and Giants, and she will explore the changing roles of heroines in stories, discuss whether it's legitimate to alter old tales for modern reasons, and encourage you to find your own heroines.
