Tickling Jock Opening Lecture: A Comedy Great - Johnny Beattie

Govan-born Johnny Beattie is just one of the comedy greats featured in Tickling Jock which celebrates Scotland’s distinctive contribution to the world of entertainment. With a career spanning more than 50 years, Beattie started in show business in 1951. A regular in pantomime, he was also closely linked to the Gaiety Theatre in Ayr. In recent times, he became known to a new generation playing the character Malcolm Hamilton in the soap, River City. To open this new exhibition, we are delighted to announce that Johnny will be discussing his career and other ‘comedy greats’ with whom he worked, with eldest daughter, actress Maureen Beattie.
