Welcome to Lauriston! Come in out the cold, have a dram (or a hot chocolate) and celebrate Hogmanay with us. We’ve readied the musicians, magicians and storytellers, as we make merry and celebrate the magic and origins of Hogmanay!
Located in secluded grounds on the outskirts of Edinburgh, we invite you to first-foot round this stunningly beautiful castle rich in history and decor, with spectacular views over the Firth of Forth. Explore its opulent rooms, secret passages and hidden chambers as we uncover some of the weirdest and most wonderful Hogmanay traditions from around Scotland…
Who knows… you may find yourself cutting a hole in your cheese, burning juniper leaves or even parading round the castle with a fish above your head…
A charming New Year’s night of music, mischief, tall tales and magic from around the country, brought to life here at Lauriston Castle.
To ‘First Foot’: is to be the first person to cross the threshold of a neighbour’s house in the New Year according to the Scottish tradition.
Featuring phenomenal singer and songwriter Ainsley Hamill, astonishing mindreader Drew McAdam, silver-tongued storyteller Jock Ferguson, world-class card magician Lewis Barlow and others.
