Naked Aye Art – Shapes That Shift Desire Multi-Arts Exhibition

This October Naked Aye Art Collective are bringing together artists and performers from across Scotland at two gallery spaces at St Margaret's House, Edinburgh, to exhibit their work, engage with audiences and to network. The multi-arts event (3-18 October) will showcase artists and performers who respond to the human body in their work.

After their successful two-day pop up exhibition this spring, the group have created a two-week exhibition programme, including events, workshops and residencies, around the theme of ‘Shapes that Shift Desire’.

The programme will include paintings and performance, installations and film, spoken word and drawings, sculpture and photography, music and more. Daytime residencies will run alongside the main programme of events, where artists will respond to the life model and the exhibition display.

The programme also includes a workshop in collaboration with the LGBT Youth Group Beyond Gender, a group for young transgender, non-binary and intersex people, and their friends (age 13 – 25). Beyond Gender work to raise awareness and understanding of important issues for young trans people.

Established poet Kevin Cadwallender will curate poetry for the programme and there will be a creative film screening with Filmosophy curator and film lecturer James Mooney, as well as a short film night curated by Paul Maguire of Low-Def, who runs regular short film events in Edinburgh.

Naked Aye aim to provide a platform for the vibrant resurgence in figurative art and to explore and promote the diversity of responses and approaches to the body in art.

The group show will feature a range of work from both emerging and established artists, including Alan McGowan, Aine Divine, Juliana Capes and Leigh Chorlton. It is curated by Marcin Krupa, Mel Roy and Mira Knoche together with Naked Aye Art Collective.
