Budapest Festival Orchestra Soloists
A programme of
Prokofiev Overture on Hebrew Themes
Poulenc Sextet
Bartók Piano Quintet
Conductor Iván Fischer’s renowned Budapest Festival Orchestra is prized for the vivid, characterful performances of its individual musicians: here, respected soloists step out of the orchestra for three vibrant chamber works.
Prokofiev’s Overture on Hebrew Themes – written, despite its name, for the striking combination of clarinet, string quartet and piano – bristles with earthy tunes, while there are more distinctive, Hungarian flavours in the early, Brahms-inspired Piano Quintet by the Budapest players’ compatriot Béla Bartók. They complete their programme with the infectious jollity of Poulenc’s effervescent Sextet.
