Aristaeus By Peter Dickinson
Written from scratch by Arts Award pupil Peter Dickinson, Aristaeus is a three-act Greek tragedy, where a Greek war hero has just finished serving his public duty to Athens. Although many think he is beginning to lose his mind, you are made aware that he is negligent over the fact that he has a daughter, Ademia, who has doubts over where the family inheritance will go.
After Aristaeus’ wife, Demetria, has a miscarriage, they are fortunately blessed with a son. Demetria however is less than fortunate and dies in childbirth. With no faithful guardian of the household, Aristaeus is forced to re-wed, not before his new-born son, Telephus, dies mysteriously. Now with no-one to carry his legacy, no-one looking after his house, and an egotistical daughter, this a tragedy that no one saw coming.
Running time 90 minutes including an interval.
