The Bluebell Letters
Young love blossoms between David and Sarah, during their strolls in the Bluebell Woods. But the year is 1916 and David’s patriotic duty is to enlist to serve King and Country. He finds himself in France, facing the hell that is the Somme. The couple are betrothed to wed as soon as David returns from the front. Meanwhile their love grows through their honest, heartfelt and often poignant letters to each other. This is their story – these are The Bluebell Letters.
This play is based on fact and inspired by the story of 3353 Sergeant Alexander Russell 6th Battalion The Cameronians ( Scottish Rifles).
