Flute Starter Course For Adults

This flute course is designed for adult beginners, or those who played many years ago but genuinely feel that they have forgotten everything, so would like to start again from scratch.

You do not need your own instrument – flutes are provided for you to use during the sessions.

The course involves four 2 hour Sunday group tuition sessions, plus a single attendance at any easy-level Blow and Blast ensemble workshop to round off the experience.

The course covers:

* Correct playing position and basic technique
* Tone production
* Elementary theory and musicianship
* Assembly and care of the instrument
* Introduction to playing in a small ensemble

The second hour of each session will overlap with a corresponding clarinet course, allowing the two groups to work together on theory, music-reading and musicianship. By the end of the course, the two groups will be able to play as a mixed ensemble. This will be a preparation for attending your first real Blow & Blast woodwind workshop.
