Spring Concert
St John Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach.
St John Passion was written during Bach's first year as director of church music in Leipzig, and first performed on Good Friday 1724. The work depicts the Passion of Christ as told in the Gospel according to St John. The performance will be in English to enhance the immediacy and drama of the rapidly developing events leading to Christ's trial and crucifixion. Filled with wonderful arias, choruses and chorales, this promises to be a memorable concert. DCU will be joined by the Orchestra of Scottish Opera, and professional soloists under the direction of Derek Clark.
