Morag Paterson

From traditional landscapes, through expressionist abstracts to Zero Footprint, a five-year project taking photos from one precise point, Leeming + Paterson’s collaborative journey has roamed from their native Galloway to the northern wilds of Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Norway.

This highly visual retrospective tells the story of the two photographers over 10 years, with frank insights into their passion for the natural world and their concerns around how we preserve it for generations to come.

Based in the Galloway Hills in rural south west Scotland photographers Ted Leeming and Morag Paterson have been working collaboratively for nine years, capturing the beauty of the natural world in their striking and evocative photographic images. The photographers work closely together throughout the creative process, from initial concept and image capture to jointly signing each print, with either one eventually capturing the single image that expresses their shared vision.

This collaborative approach, while unusual in the photographic field, adds depth and dynamism to their work, encouraging evolution of style and exploration of different techniques and approaches. They run workshops in the Galloway Forest Park as well as further afield in Iceland. Italy and the Faroe Islands.
