Bite My Thumb are proud to present their upcoming tour of Two by Jim Cartwright.

Still astonishingly real today, award winning playwright, Jim Cartwright (The Rise and Fall of Little Voice), presents Two – a microcosm of working-class life in a Northern local; a place of failed aspirations and unfulfilled lives.

The proprietors of the establishment miss nothing. Every raised glass, tipped hat, roaming glance and resigned sigh is recognised and acknowledged with quick witted northern charm … for there is more to each relationship than meets the eye.

From the old man who takes quiet comfort in the memory of his late wife, to the fat bobble-hatted couple who come to the pub to eat crisps and watch TV, to the drunken ‘other’ woman arriving to confront her lover. Sometimes humorous, sometimes poignant, yet always incredibly human, each dialogue acts like a fragment of shattered glass reflecting back at us as the play mines the depths of the human experience.

Two actors waltz the audience through a spectrum of human emotion, weaving a rich tapestry of life in a working class town through intimate insights into the lives of the colourful pub regulars. Each vignette skilfully combines pathos and humour leading to a fragile reconciliation as a dark tragedy is revealed.
