Aakash Odedra present the acclaimed double bill of Aditi Mangaldas’ Echoes and Odedra’s I Imagine.

Aditi Mangaldas’ Echoes is the company’s first commission of a female choreographer, its first commission of a pure Kathak work and the first work Mangaldas has made outside her own company. A bold, high-octane solo for Odedra, the piece explores the impact of our ancestory. Mangaldas, renowned for artistry and energy, adds a contemporary twist to this extraordinary Kathak dance experience. The recorded soundtrack features vocals by Hindustani vocalist Shubha Mudgal based on Mangaldas’ own fast-moving rhythmic patterns.

Odedra’s latest work I Imagine sees him collaborating for the first time with a spoken word artist, the award-winning poet and fellow Sky Arts Academy Scholar Sabrina Mahfouz. I Imagine is rooted in Mahfouz’s own vision of possible futures for her new baby son, thinking about his life in the way an artist might think of a creation. Odedra also works with circus practitioner David Poznanter, using masks to create an array of different experimental characters.
